Why a Food Production Leader Switched to Tapcheck
Versova Management Cooperative's previous earned wage access provider caused fallouts that sent Versova searching for their next provider. Here's why they switched to Tapcheck and haven't looked back.

Searching For On-Demand Pay That Does The Job
Farm work doesn’t run on a payday schedule. Versova, a family of egg farming companies, gave employees earned wage access while keeping payroll out of the middle.

When another EWA provider created more work for payroll
Versova Management Cooperative is an agricultural company specialized in operating egg farms in multiple regions in the U.S. from Iowa, Ohio, to the Pacific Northwest and Mountain regions, with 9 locations using Tapcheck. Versova first offered earned wage access through another provider and the employees valued having the access to wages they’d already earned. However, payroll was absorbing the fallout.
When holidays shifted pay dates, their old earned wage access provider's system often didn't reflect the change until days later, even after Versova requested updates. Files dropped without warning. The payroll team found out only when employees started calling.
"We had issues to the point where employees weren't being paid," said Candace Chavez, Payroll Manager of Versova Management Cooperative.
Each error meant phone calls, research, and hunting down answers. When payroll raised issues with their previous provider, responsibility kept landing back on Versova. So Chavez went searching for a different EWA provider.
Why payroll reps kept recommending Tapcheck
Chavez started her search where many payroll leaders do: with the people who see what other employers use. She asked her ADP contacts which earned wage access providers their clients were choosing.
"Tapcheck kept coming up the most," Chavez said.
Tapcheck’s integration and partnership with ADP was a key factor in the decision, which she had considered when setting a demo with a Tapcheck representative. Switching providers was one of four or five new product implementations she managed that year. Tapcheck's rollout was the easy one.
"Anybody I wanted included on those calls was always included," said Chavez, "Any documents I needed got sent and showed up on time."
The results: fewer escalations, happier employees, payroll off the front line
The biggest change for Versova is what payroll no longer has to do.
1. Issues get fixed fast. "The team has been fantastic and turned things around almost immediately," Chavez said.
2. Employees get real answers. Under the previous provider, employees who called support were often told to talk to payroll. Now, Chavez hears that Tapcheck's customer service team walks employees through the steps and explains what's needed.
3. Payroll steps in only when it needs to. Unless a report doesn't pull over, Chavez's team stays out of day-to-day earned wage access questions.
For others considering earned wage access, Chavez has emphasized taking the same steps she did. “Make sure to do your research. Talk to people who actually have the product already in hand if you’re wanting to work with that partner.”
